Occupy San Francisco March
Community members from various neighborhoods across San Francisco came together on a sunny saturday in November 2011 to express their disgust with injustices happening in their neighborhood. I joined community members from the Mission District for a morning protest in their neighborhood that was organized by Just Cause. Protesters met at the 24th street Mission BART station for a rally (images 1-7) and then walked through the neighborhood towards the 16th street Mission BART station (image 8). Along the way, protestors stopped at a community residence whose residents were about to be evicted from their home of 10+ years so that the building owner could put in a taqueria (images 9-11). March participants listened to the testimonies of the residents and expressed their support and solidarity. Marchers then BARTed to downtown San Francisco (Powell Street BART) to join protestors from other neighborhoods in the city for a march and rally in the financial district (images 12-14). Protestors peacefully marched through the financial district and finally settled in front of Chase Bank for a final rally. Police turned out in great numbers...to protect the banks (images 15-24).
